OF BLACK AND WHITE TEXTING
Seen a better movie in my life.
I can’t say it emphatically enough.
Best movie of all time. I want two and three and four.
But you know this shit is REALLLLL.
I love the way it looks like a spiderweb.
Had a really nice visit with the men who were doing the driveway and I think giving it a new roof. They were very sweet and kind and super cool and they really loved the house, too. They offered to give me a ride up the fork lift thing or whatever you call it, the thing that brings you up to the roof but I’m getting sweaty hands just writing about it. BUT THEY WERE SUPER NICE.
BESIDES TRYING TO KILL ME THEY WERE AWESOME.
Only joking. I wasn’t scared, I just didn’t know what to do with Blue.
No really though.
Maybe he would have gone up, too.
Now that would have been a picture.
I think the ghosts and I will be really good friends.
That desk thing comes out.
and we are working on a couple of new projects all together, all at once.
I love days like this when it is sunny and warm and we are running around town. Today we have Katie with us, as my parents are camping/staying in Lake George with some family. (My dad is camping, my mom is just posting up in a house somewhere for three days with my aunt.)
Okay so we are off and running around. Because I promised you this in advance, (silly me, making plans) this is a house Blue and I had SO MUCH FUN running around the inside of, and apparently it’s haunted. This house is SO gloriously beautiful on the inside, and the vibe is just PERFECT. It abuts a park and you can see the bridge over the pond from the windows. It is so lovely. I found it because one day I was watching Wind In The Willows (Disney version– the best) and I wanted to find a place like Toad Hall. (Toad Hall is my dream castle.)
Anyway, I realized there was a castle in Albany, which is only like, thirty minutes away from me. It became my little obsession and this realtor named Sam was beautiful and kind enough to show it to us, and seeing as Blue was so excited he jumped out the car window, Sam graciously allowed him to come on the tour with us.
It was amazing.
I appreciate Sam very, very much for taking the time to show it to me and for letting Blue come along. It was literally, for us, one of the best days of our lives. Anything with beautiful old real estate, something that feels like a castle, and my dog, is heaven on earth for me.
This is the first “castle” I have ever truly, truly loved. It has a really, really, really wonderful spectacular vibe on the inside. We didn’t even bother looking at like SPECIFICALLY the whole thing; and Blue by the end was trying to show me up stair cases and things we hadn’t even seen. Lol. He really likes it there, too.
Supposedly rice crispy cereal was invented in the basement.
I truly, truly, truly love, adore this home. I have been in a lot of beautiful places, and I am a stalker on Zillow to the max; my passion for real estate is only rivaled by my obsessive, compulsive, addictive love for my dog (that’s not on me; it’s not my fault he’s literally the best thing in the world, I had nothing to do with that). But truly, there is something SO special about this place, and perhaps it’s because it’s made entirely of stone (external) but, there is an energy here that is like no other place I have ever witnessed.
I hope you enjoy it too.
❤ ❤ ❤
The one I love MOST is Teyana Taylor’s.
Teyana Taylor. (Perez noticed Janet wore something like this ORIGINALLY).
Hailey Baldwin. Lorde.
Lorde: I love the color and the texture and the lines.
Hailey, I just think she has a really good body and stance for the design.
Steinfeld, I love this dress and the design (GENERALLY, ignoring the details of fabric and the appliqué looking shit on top), which is somewhat similar to something I sketched earlier this week, I would have liked a different line on the skirt. Something about the fabric and the details were ever so slightly off to me– like the more I look at it, the more it drives me mad– but ALL in all, a really great look on her. She’s very beautiful.
Something about those lines and the way that fabric works, I cannot explain it, every once in awhile, an outfit that I see KIND of makes me feel NUTS and this is it. Because I LOVE the idea, and something got lost in like the very last stages of execution, as far as the designer goes. I don’t like the appliqué thing and ahhhh I LOVE the idea SO much if only it was like… IT WAS SO CLOSE TO PERFECTION. The saving grace for this dress is WHO is wearing it, HER complexion and colors, and shoes, and how she is holding herself. That is the saving grace because this dress is so close to perfect but also so far.
That’s me being really picky, as I am with fashion, ESPECIALLY anything that’s supposed to be high-end.
Teyana Taylor had my all-out favorite look of the night that I saw, along with flashback to the ever-classic Janet (whose technical outfit, I like SLIGHTLY more). Miley’s outfit just fit her TO A T and the colors are SHARP and perfect in her complexion. And Nicki just looked sick, in what ONLY she could pull off.
Love Van McCan very much. Great human being and inspiring, young whipper snapper as he is.
He knows how it’s done.
He has my dead Grandma’s birthday. She was pretty fucking epically major, and it must run on the day. I aspire to be more like her every day. And my dead Grandpa too. They’re both inspirations to me.
I know they are kicking my ass every day into being who I really am. Because they are really that badass.
Anyway back to Van.
If you only take away one thing from this website ever,
wash out all your mind and take away this.
Nothing else ever possibly matters besides this.
telling them THEY’D be tracking ME down for my shit. (paint)
I’ll own Sotheby’s when I’m finished.
And then I’ll give it away for free.
They think they own uppity?
I INVENTED IT.
And by the way this is a really cool house.
FRESH COLOR AND NEW FURNITURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The wrought iron gate on the start of this place has a literal energy about it. Visceral, palpable.
I’m sorry, Celine.
this is currently my personal fave
ANDDDD!!!!! just found this video (SEE BELOW)!!!!!!
also realized CV in real estate speaking equals “COVE”– you heard it HERE first.
So excited for this feature-length film with zen-like music
It’s not a coincidence they posted this right before my birthday.
Real estate is art you can live in (“in which you can live”). It’s a backdrop for your life. It’s like choosing which movie scene to spend some amount of time in. That is why I love real estate. Every single location on planet earth has a different vibration and feeling and frequency and so does each house and it’s fascinating to me.
I can know pretty much IMMEDIATELY upon seeing one photo whether it’s somewhere I would want to live.
I love that about myself.
I just know shit.
This one is beautiful and sprawling and gothic and gorgeous and incredible AND feels like home at the same time, which is actually a pretty amazing thing to achieve.
They also did a really good job of building a new home and making it look old. There’s a lot of things that I can tell went into the making of this house that are not easy to articulate or describe but I can tell that whoever built this and designed it really knew what they were doing (by my standards, not necessarily anyone else. hahahahaha).
think their calling was making music videos
(who knows maybe I will!!!!)
NOTHING gets me like music put together with clips from a TV show
That’s why I like my friend Shane’s videos so much, because they are all clips set to music. It’s literally like mainlining heroin for me. HAHAAHAHAHAHA
The LAST MINUTE of this song is so epic. ❤ Like 2:44 on.
One of my best friends got me into this show and while I never have the attention span to watch anything all the way through, not to mention a whole fucking TV series, I always really liked these two characters a lot. I do NOT know how people make these videos but they are AMAZING.
If I thought pleasure was guilty, this would be it.
BUT THIS AIN’T GUILTY. I’M LOUD AND I’M PROUD.
I love the color scheme of this show and the way it is filmed. And Texas. And probably a lot of other things I’m not mentioning now.
Maybe because I didn’t fully watch it. HA!!!!!!
I love culminations of things, where you just skim the best parts of everything off the top and only use that, and that is what this does, and it’s brilliant.
This, to me, IS a feature-length film.
10979 Chalon Road in Bel Air
I pretty much only like houses with videos now.
Yes I am now adding this song to my playlist.
The thing I love about this home is the light, the pool, and how I want to ride a Razor scooter all over these floors.
I probably wouldn’t build a big house…
then I just found this…
In playback I realized like, depending on my mood, sometimes that’s true and sometimes, well maybe I wouldn’t build one but if somebody already DID….
YOU KNOW I LOVE CASTLES!!!!!! THEY ARE MY LIFE.
(I know using at at the end of it isn’t proper English but I’m bringing it back because I like using it and I like the way it sounds.)
(That’s a link to the listing.)
I will never forgive my dog for MAKING ME let him outside (on a whim, just so he can do frivolous things in the yard) before properly looking at these pictures and information before sending off this post.
Do you think they planned that photo to be taken, or are they just really bad at turning the lights off?
As you can see in the listing, above, it has a fenced-in yard. And seeing as I have a dog and am a proper dog parent, having a fenced-in yard is mainly the only thing I require in order to move in. Lucky them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LIFE GIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More info here ❤
Their doughnuts in New York!!!!!!!!! ❤ Looooook 🙂
really enjoy this woodwork 🙂 This is from a home downtown
I love woodwork. SWEEEET videos ya’ll!!! AND TWO!!!
love the lighting in the second 🙂
🙂 🙂 🙂
i like kanye’s
You’ll never see me complain.
It’s 90 with 41 percent humidity and I’m drinking a hot coffee. This is nothing. Call me when it’s 105. Then we’ll chat.
Painted this today for my favorite client yet.
(Blue’s toy basket).
Painting something for him really pulled my heart in two. Even if he couldn’t give a rip. I love this dog so much. When he actually went into the basket after it was painted and dry and was looking for a toy, I thought I was going to burst. And he’s probably like, “Why the fuck does this thing smell like toxic and what’d you do with all my shit cause it isn’t in the same order as when I left it before.”
I LOVE the smell of spray paint, too. I always try to inhale it whenever I can. Blue’s feet, his fur, spray paint, some of my top favorite smells. Gasoline. Coffee before it is brewed. Chanel. My sweat from being in the sun, obviously the obligatory fresh cut grass, clothes dried on the line…
But I was just reminded of another girl who has impeccable taste and she also shares the same birthday as me which is not coincidental. If you wanted to have the best taste in the world, hopefully you were born on our day, too.
Poppy Delevingne. So her ring is also very beautiful and I adore yellow gold. So I thought I would show you it here.
She is just an amazing human being. I have been enamored with her long before I knew we were soul twins.
She’s gorgeous and this ring is so unique and I feel it’s a little bit Jasmine and Aladdin and it’s all love. She’s the best and her husband is so adorable, too.
Anything she does is magic. I’m including one of my all-time favorite wedding pictures I have ever seen which just so happens to be her. And also the way James proposed because I am a sucker for a beautiful jewelry box and what the fuck, he nailed it.
By the way, the box is by Anya Hindmarch, Who Clearly Knows Her Shit. (That’s her full name).
I love her ring because if you know me, I’m a woman of extremes in all ways and if anything looks like it’s “too much” then it’s just right for me.
Way too much is just right.
Hers is my favorite unique engagement ring I have ever seen. The one I posted before obviously isn’t an original design. But hers is fucking amazing. Plus I love her dress.
She just has the best taste all-around. I don’t bestow that title lightly but she does.
She can do no wrong.
Plus her nickname is Popdog which I think is the cutest thing ever. But the ring.
Do you ever be driving and you get like, literally a VISCERAL craving for a fat rock on your hand? Preferably, it’s the kind that makes it a little hard to hold your hand up (this one isn’t one of them, I’m being modest here).
I mean, like, it’s equally as clear as if you had to pee, or if you needed a drink of water. It’s THAT clear that you just need like 5-10 carats on your hand, STAT. You feel the energy of the ring on your hand.
Do you know what I mean?
I got that feeling yesterday whilst driving with Ricky Martin playing and it’s the gay coming out of me, I swear. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS RING.
WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING AT RINGS ONLINE THEY HAVE TO SHOW YOU PICTURES OF THE HAND. THIS IS PERRRRRRRRFECTTTTTTTTT. THIS IS THE PERFECT SIZE FOR THE HAND. PERFECTION. I LOVE THIS. I AM OBSESSED. THIS IS JUST RIGHT. THEY NAILED IT.
I mean, I COULD go bigger but… I’d be happy with this.
They did a really fucking good job. This is spot on.
I’m about to get REAL.
Okay but before I get real let me show you the video (soundtrack) which inspired last night’s National post and also my technically-nearly-impossible ballet routine which has all the critics crying praises of highest joy, awe, and disbelief.
Doesn’t this sound like England?!?!?!
I totally thought it did. Plus the house is cool, too. I want to do music videos of dancing up and down the living room stairs.
(It’s going to happen.) This house is SO gay and I love it. I love gay homes. If I have to be straight, at least I can live in ONE gay home.
THAT’S BECAUSE I AM! (BUT IF YOU SAY YOU ARE, YOU’RE NOT.) 🙂 🙂 🙂
I FOUND A LOOPHOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As much as I don’t like dressing up… I’m putting on dresses for the funeral from my designs and I’m looooooving wearing them.
I actually remembered that my wedding dress is at my parent’s house because I left it there but I designed it and had it made the summer we first moved into this house, not meaning for it to be a wedding dress, but that’s the one I’m going to wear. It’s a white shift dress and it’s PERFECT for the wedding I want, which is like, no wedding at all.
So I’m really excited for that and also these dresses I am pulling out are so fucking LEGITIMATE I’m dead. I’m so happy. So I can barely take a picture of any of these, like I said I’ll have to have my sister do it but…
I’m feeling my passion for douchebaggery COMING BACK!!!!!!!
And also, I’m feeling my passion for my appreciation for having NO BOOBS SO I CAN WEAR THIS MOTHERFUCKING THING WITHOUT A BRA. I PUT IN LIKE 10 HOURS IN A BRA YESTERDAY MAYBE MORE AND THAT’S ENOUGH FOR TODAY.
By the way, when you’re trying on dresses that were LITERALLY made for you, that’s NOT the time to drink 27 oz. of water and turn 3 months pregnant.
I CAN SAY THIS FOR SURE I AM HONESTLY NOT A SHOE GIRL. AT ALL. I DON’T GIVE A FLYING FLIP ABOUT SHOES BECAUSE YOU BUY LIKE 50 or so GOOD QUALITY LASTING PAIRS AND YOU ARE SET. I like classics that are made to last forever and go with everything. But/and/therefore I FUCKING LOVE THESE SHOES THEY ARE PERFECT IN EVERY WAY.
(I just peed so now I have some room in these).
I’m really proud of these dresses I think they are genuinely amazing.
That brown one NEVER fit me before so I have NO idea why the fq it’s fitting me now. I literally tried it on for shits and giggles like, “This will never work”.
The lady who made them
(sewed them) CAROL, is ALSO amazing. She’s the best. I haven’t seen her in a few years but she will always have my heart of her talent and skill. And her amazing spirit as a human being, truly. I love her. She’s the greatest seamstress in the world.
I totally didn’t finish this post because my mom called me on the phone and we were on there for like 3 hours while I was trying on dresses and posting at the same time so I was in another world when I published this but anyway it turned out fine. There are like ten more designs I haven’t posted any photos of yet but I will. ❤ I love these dresses because they are SO simple. The idea isn’t to like make something that’s never been done before, because some of them have; it’s an aesthetic of an entire line.
It’s a curation of fabrics and designs. It’s meant to be seen as a whole.
That said. I’m totally half-assing this because I have a shower waiting for me and an early day tomorrow so alrighty TA that’s all for me for tonight!
Love love love to you all! Another beautiful day tomorrow.
The sunshine and the skylines and the ocean there all amaze me. ❤ ❤ ❤
Halfway through watching it (at 1:35 I had to stop and write): I am IN LOVE with this place. VIDEOS GIVE IT A WHOLE NEW SPIN. I THOUGHT THE OTHER DAY IT WAS MY FAVORITE, APPARENTLY BECAUSE I WROTE IT DOWN IN A KIND OF DECIDED SPOT, BUT THIS VIDEO IS BLOWING ME AWAY. SO FUCKING COOL. SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS VIDEO BECAUSE THE PICTURES DON’T DO IT JUSTICE; THEY DON’T QUITE SO FULLY GIVE YOU TH VIBE. THIS IS FAR AND AWAY MY FAVORITE.!!!!!!!!
The house I like on the West Coast, is LITERALLY an East Coast “cape” design. And the one I like on the East Coast is West Coast-modern. Go fig. Yeah this house is sick, I’m in love.
Miami/Malibu and then whatever the fuck town I’ve grown up in cause I’ve got parents and Jenny et al and it’s really beautiful here when it’s warm. It’s got a lot going for it, overall. (Mainly, me.)
This is a video I just FOUND of this place I’ve been checking out the last week or two (or three or les? I have no idea. Time eludes me.).
By the way guys, I’m just getting to this now, put this in higher quality than it originally comes. I just put it in HD and now it looks really cool. Before it was all blur.
I know my favorite place in Malibu, hands down right now. I’m up in the air of a few places in Miami. I’m going to watch this video as I’m posting this now. I’m into the music though, for sure. So that’s a good sign.
If you’re selling a house, do videos. Videos with music sell a place like nothing else (for me).
Cool dude. K I’m excited for this. You enjoy. We’ll watch this together!
Let me know what you think! I genuniely wanted to ask this cause I love talking real estate with people and I’m SO psyched I found this video because I don’t really want to post Zillow things, as they are apt to change and these videos are forever!!! 😉 😉 😉
SWEET OKAY GO WATCH I’M GOING TO GO WATCH TOO!!!!
There’s two neighborhoods that I like basically three homes in; there’s two in this one and this is the bigger one of the two in this one, I think it’s called Camp Biscayne. I genuinely DON’T want THAT big of a home; I want something that still feels like a home and that I can take care of myself. The biggest thing for me is I find that the LAND I like, tends to have bigger homes. And also, DESIGN-wise, I tend to like bigger homes. I find that larger square footage, TO AN EXTENT, translates to vaster spaces, and cooler use of space, even if it’s NOTHING which I kind of adore.
So it’s definitely a balance. The smaller ones I’m like, “Oh, that’s too boring, that’s too plain” and the larger ones I’m like, “I don’t want to live in a Renaissance hall with naked angels singing on the ceiling.” So it’s an adventure finding something that’s cool but also LIVABLE for me. One of them requires apparently a full-time staff of five people (??? I believe that’s what he said!! What!! FIVE PEOPLE JUST TO RUN A FREAKING HOUSE??!?!??!) the most I could imagine would be a gardner once in awhile, and like maybe someone to clean it once in awhile, maybe someone for the pool, but how hard can keeping a pool clean be?
Part of me would really like to talk to the person who said that (the person living there now). I’d never even considered having live-in housekeepers before, let alone five (not sure if they all live there or not, but that might be kind of cool? I don’t know! So many things I don’t know that I have never thought of before!!!!). So that kind of blew my mind and also made me wonder if I’d agree with him if we sat down and talked and he explained to me why it was.
Anyway, that’s not this house; it’s another. So enjoy this one!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 xoxoxo
MY FRIENDS ARE FREAKING BRILLIANT AND SHANE IS LIKE… SHANE IS HONESTLY THE NEXT BIGGEST DIRECTOR IN THE WORLD; HE’S FUCKING AMAZING.
HE’S THE MOST UNDERRATED PERSON IN THE FUCKING WORLD, IN TERMS OF TALENT AND SKILL. BUT HE WON’T BE FOR LONG.
FUCK MY LIFE THIS IS SO GOOD. SHANE IS A VIDEO GOD.
ADELE SINGS LIKE SHANE FILMS AND EDITS. END OF.
HE IS THE.. THERE ISN’T EVEN A HUMAN BEING EQUIVALENT IN THEIR FIELD SO THAT I CAN EXPRESS IT ANY FURTHER, OF FILM.
There’s so many people in this video that I love (excuse my dog, he ruins it several times) but honestly like…. there are SO many people IN MY HEART in this thing and I feel like Shane fucking CAPTURES it; he CAPTURES THEIR ESSENCE AMAZINGLY WELL. EVERY TIME I HAVE BEEN ON FILM WITH SHANE, I HAVE LOVED THE RESULTS AND USUALLY IT’S BEEN LIKE MONTHS OR A YEAR AFTER THE DAMN THING EVEN TOOK PLACE AND I’M BLOWN AWAY THAT HE GOT SOME GOOD SIDE OR ASPECT OF ME. AND HE DOES THAT WITH EVERYONE.
IF YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED, USE HIM. HE’S THE MOTHERFUCKING MASTER.
AND HE DOESN’T KNOW I’M SAYING ANY OF THIS; I DON’T CARE THAT HE’S MY FRIEND. HE’S ACTUALLY MY FRIEND BECAUSE OF HOW FUCKING TALENTED HE IS. LEGITIMATELY THE ONLY REASON I EVER KNEW HIM IS BECAUSE I AGREED TO GO SEE HIM BECAUSE I LOVED THIS ONE WEDDING VIDEO THAT HE DID (TO THIS DAY, MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE– IT’S TEN MINUTES LONG AND I’VE PROBABLY SEEN IT 30 TIMES) AND IT MADE ME CRY SO I SAID I’D GO SEE HIM.
HE’S BRILLIANT HE’S AMAZING. CHECK OUT HIS STUFF. HE’S THE NEXT FUCKING WARHOL/RICHTER OF FILM.
Here’s his IG account by the way. As I said, he’s the most underrated filmmaker currently in the world. Just watch.
People are always asking me how I keep my house so clean.
(Okay, they’re not but someday maybe they will!!)
(Once I hire a maid.)
And whenever they do (they actually don’t), I ALWAYS TELL THEM: SEBO! (but I would if they did.)
(If my house is dirty, I blame it on the maid. Once I get a maid, I’ll blame the clean on me.)
It’s my German secret for clean.
(If you saw my house, you’d think I was offending the Germans.)
Anyway. So far, I love this vacuum. This is the first truly nice vacuum I have ever owned and I never knew the difference in ease (propulsion) and air quality (filter) that having a nice vacuum could have.
I’m NO cleaning expert and I’m no vacuum expert; I went by reviews, and also the man at my local vacuum store, who actually, sold my mom HER first nice vacuum probably close to a quarter century ago (it’s still going strong), he above and beyond recommended this one to me.
I’m not one to take anyone’s word for it, so I did my own independent review, and it seemed he was on to something. And I probably would have been happy with a lot of different other ones, too. But this one has been really good.
I plan on having houses from now on that don’t have carpet; only hard floors, however I DO LOVE my rugs. I have two that I’ve collected that are wool and they are my pride and joy (first them, then my dog, then Oprah). I LOVE wool rugs, especially ones that are wool and hand-dyed and hand-made and all that.
I’m a nerd for Oriental and Persian rugs. But I DIE FOR HARD floors of anything made of natural materials like wood, stone, whatever else. So anyway. I intend on using this vacuum solely for my rugs pretty soon.
Anyway, I think it’s a smart investment to get ONE really good vacuum that you’ll have maybe your whole life (or close to it) because I’ve seen how quickly you can go through cheaper vacuums, and before you know it, you’ve spent the equivalent of quality one that could have lasted forever.
There isn’t a right or wrong way to do it; that’s just me. Also, this brand is devoted to being “green”, from what I know, and their business model’s idea, is that they don’t want to create landfills of waste from their products; they want them to last forever.
So I appreciate that value because it’s in alignment with me. 🙂
I’ve had a lot of fun enjoying my vacuum. As I was just telling my neighbor today, I love vacuuming, doing the dishes, and laundry. Those are the house-cleaning things that I like. When it comes to scrubbing, I fall short. But I think “god” did that because he (I’ll always anthropomorphize him) can’t make ANYBODY perfect, and he almost accidentally did it with me, so then he said, okay… make her lackadaisical about scrubbing vertical surfaces.
So, I accept my lot in life.
But yeah, if you have a kind of vacuum you like, too, let me know in the comments below! I’m always happy to hear a good happy vacuum story. I actually was going to do a post on Comet, too. That stuff is MY LIFE. I’ve found that… Well, I’ll save the story for you for the post.
That’s all for now!!!!
Here are some modeling pictures of my vac. To me, this thing is an innovative piece of art.
I’ve gotten used to it now, but switching from the old vacuum I had, to this, felt like… It felt like butter. It felt like I finally understood what a “good” vacuum was all about. Also, the air seemed so much cleaner after using this one, which has filters (my other one didn’t, which I also liked, because you could just empty the plastic container a hundred thousand times, but I notice a difference in air quality with this, immediately. I never knew what people were talking about when they said that, until I experienced it first-hand for myself).
So I was just checking out the concert calendar on one of my… well, my only favorite music station. If I ever do listen to the radio, it’s the only one I have on, WEQX.
Anyway. I was on there and I saw this ad for this beer. I don’t know this beer; I’ve never drank this beer. I drink beer, but not a whole lot and I drink whatever’s there; I’m not super picky or by any means a connoisseur but I do tend to like the lighter ones better than the dark ones. The dark ones heeb me out. They’re way too BEER for me. They’re way too, “What the fuck is that; I’d rather be drinking straight mud… Here, you drink it.”
Anyway I just loved this fucking artwork and thought you may too!!!!
Apparently their beer coming in cans in a new thing; I didn’t even know it came in bottles.
FUCKING LOVE THESE CANS. FUCKING FUCKING LOVE.
SUPER SWEET DEAL WITH THE ARTWORK FOOOO’S.
If you like beer, check them out. Maybe their beer is as good as their design.
When I was clicking on the first or second video for Helene, this came up and this is what I always say about companies– commercials, for me, don’t work. They just don’t. I know what I like, and you’re not changing my mind.
IF>>>> you can come up with a commercial that’s entertaining and/or makes me laugh, then I’m way more likely to buy your stuff.
And this totallllllly did that. Now granted, I’m not going to freaking buy myself a ring. BUT. James Allen is really making me like them with this commercial and based on the comments on YouTube, they hit a home run because basically everyone was there because they saw it as an ad on YouTube, and NOT ONLY DID THEY NOT CLICK SKIP THE AD, BUT LIKE ME, THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND THAT AND ACTUALLY TRACKED IT DOWN ON YOUTUBE ITSELF TO RE-WATCH IT.
That’s a pretty big compliment. I hope it translates for them into sales. I’d be curious to know the numbers.
I’ve definitely been on their site many times before, and I’ve found it a little tricky to navigate in some ways, like they almost have TOO MANY OPTIONS for customization and it kind of makes my head spin, like you can choose to mount ANY DIAMOND IN THE WORLD BASICALLY and all these other settings choices and all these other things which makes me a little wanting to throw up just thinking of it, but I’ve appreciated the uniqueness of their site BECAUSE their ability to customize is so far and above any other.
Some places, like say Tiffany’s, or Cartier, you’re basically buying into a design. You’re buying into an ideal, a pre-conceived notion. David Yurman, you know, anyone who’s ALREADY ESTABLISHED THEMSELVES INTO DESIGN AND WHO HAS THEIR OWN AESTHETIC, that is what you’re getting.
In those examples, the options are basically minimal and already laid out for you. They’re very finite and you basically choose a designer whose aesthetic matches yours, and pick from what they have. James Allen is a much more interactive approach. There are things I like about that, and things I find– especially doing it through a computer screen (and I’m a very visceral, tactile person) and not sitting down with a jeweler, a pencil and paper, and a satchel of stones, is a little bit like… kind of super abstract and little bit overwhelming and not fully materialized enough. But there are cool creative aspects to it, too.
**I will say, if you have the option, go to James Allen on a computer or at least a tablet. I think it’s a far superior way to figure out what you are doing, to have a whole screen, than to try to navigate it on a phone.**
My point being of all of that is, a commercial like this, illustrate’s a brand’s true values, or at least their underlying ones, and true sense of humor, and adding humor to like “ROMANCE” and “MARRIAGE” I think is a really bold move and a brilliant one at that. I love humor basically above all.
And when a company can find a way of enmeshing themselves in such a happy, light-hearted, positive way with customers, then they’ve done their job, as far as I can see. People are now going to have a totally different perspective of a jewelry company, which, as far as I have ever seen before, is kind of serious and one-note. So, although NOTHING appeals to all, it seems they’ve found a winner that appeals to most (as far as I can tell, again, based upon the comments, and CERTAINLY based upon my own reaction here).
I’ve always loved commercials that were well-done, and this one is. So anyway, James Allen, my hat OFF to you because this is a genuinely good ad. The other company which had ads that had me ROLLING laughing and LITERALLY crying, were the “sour, then sweet” sour path kids ones. I saw one, probably on some video as an actual ad, and then I tracked them all down and watched all of them because they were SO FUCKING FUNNY AND SO FUCKING GOOD.
If you can make tears stream down my face from laughing in a commercial, to me, you are the most brilliant ad-creator in the entire world.
